Welcome to Restaurante La Tartana, a culinary gem nestled in the vibrant heart of Cartagena, Murcia. Located at C. Puertas de Murcia, 14, this restaurant offers a delightful escape into the world of authentic Mediterranean cuisine. With its inviting ambiance, La Tartana not only serves as a dining destination but also as a perfect spot to watch the bustling life of the city unfold.
As I stepped inside, the warm atmosphere immediately enveloped me, setting the stage for what promised to be a delightful gastronomic adventure. Renowned for its diverse menu, restaurateurs here highlight fresh, locally sourced ingredients, crafting dishes that evoke the rich culinary traditions of Spain. From the moment I perused the menu, my eyes were drawn to the rave reviews of delicious starters like clams and vegetable pie crisped to perfection. The seafood paella, recommended to me by a fellow enthusiast, has garnered accolades for its vibrant flavors — a true reflection of the Spanish coastline.
However, my experience was mixed. While I found the main courses, like the goat leg and entrecote, to be cooked impeccably, there was a lingering sense of simplicity that left me yearning for something more. The accompanying sides of potatoes and a modest sprinkle of cooked peppers felt somewhat lackluster, overshadowed by the robust flavors of the wines. The passionate selection of wines matched the dishes beautifully, yet the service didn’t fully deliver the same enthusiasm. Initial encounters felt disjointed, with lapses in attention that could deter even the most ardent wine aficionados.
Despite these moments of disconnection, the charm of La Tartana persisted, with friendly staff eager to assist in navigating the impressive array of menu options. The restaurant also comes alive with local festivities, offering viewers a captivating spectacle. Many patrons, including Daljit Singh Makan, praised well-timed seating arrangements allowing guests to immerse themselves in the cultural parades that often grace the streets.
Overall, Restaurante La Tartana stands as a commendable dining choice in Cartagena. Though there may be blemishes in service, the culinary offerings and lively atmosphere make it a place worth visiting. Whether you are in search of a serene lunch or a festive dinner, La Tartana invites you to partake in a dining experience rich with flavor, culture, and that warm Mediterranean warmth. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this splendid restaurant during your visit to Spain’s enchanting southeast!

The starters were delicious, clams and vegetable pie. Mains course, goat leg and entrecote, perfectly cooked but a little boring with nicely cooked potatoes and a tiny amount of cooked pepper mixed through. Wines were exceptional. Service was poor. Zero camaraderie, lady was on the phone gassing when we entered. Male waiter forgot to ask us if we needed wine. Asked about the white wines, all we got was they were dry, extra dry for such exceptional wines they were totally undersold. The wine was poured with the bottle resting on the glass. The red wine arrived after we were half way through the meat, the second glass of wine was forgotten about and the bill arrived with an extra item on it , which was taken off when it was pointed out - just sloppy. Such a shame when someone has gone to so much trouble to select good wines and create and cook good dishes.

Great food - only two of us but the waiter insisted we took a table for four so we could enjoy the parade. Superb

A great find. Superb food, ambience and service. Prices very reasonable given the quality. We visited when there was a festival going on. We sat outside and watched Carthaginians and Romans parade past! Would definitely visit this lovely restaurant again!

We went to a few restaurants in Cartagena and this one was our top 1. Gorgeous Spanish food with a fancy touch. Their “Caldero” is delicious. Felt cheaper than it should’ve been Service was 10/10. Funny, lovely and helpful. Definitely coming back!

Very Nice place. We went here for dinner on a Rainy Saturday. We took a dish of “jamon” as a starter, and it was excellent. Then we took a Paella, and a steak. Both were delicious. For dessert….. We chose again a dish of ham, and croquettes… The staff was very gentle and friendly, we had only one misunderstanding ordering the drinks. We spent totally 163 € total, including the wine. Really appreciated.
